Trying to Conceive Can Feel Exhausting

When you’re trying to get pregnant, it can feel like your entire life starts revolving around ovulation strips, cycle tracking, supplements, and unanswered questions. Many women are told everything looks “normal,” while still feeling like something is off.

Fertility is rarely just about one hormone or one lab value. Our goal is to help uncover potential barriers to conception and support the foundational pieces that influence reproductive health, ovulation, and pregnancy.

Our approach

Fertility is rarely one factor in isolation.

Naturopathic fertility care looks at the whole picture: hormones, cycle regularity, thyroid and metabolic health, nutrient status, inflammation, and stress. Rather than focusing on a single lab value, we work to uncover what patterns across your health history may be contributing to difficulty conceiving.

For patients also working with a fertility clinic on IVF or IUI, we aim to provide collaborative supportive care alongside your existing treatment. Many patients find that addressing nutrient gaps, hormonal irregularities, and egg quality alongside their stimulated cycles gives them a more complete foundation for the process.

Many women struggling with fertility don't necessarily feel unhealthy. Sometimes the signs are subtle, and worth looking into.

What we look at

Many contributing factors are commonly overlooked

Hormones & cycle health

Thyroid dysfunction, even when mild, can interfere with ovulation and implantation. PMOS (previously called PCOS) may contribute to irregular cycles and inconsistent ovulation.

Inflammation & immune factors

Conditions like endometriosis, elevated inflammatory markers, or immune dysregulation can influence hormones, cycle health, and implantation.

Nutrient status

Deficiencies in iron, vitamin D, B12, or folate are more common than expected and can directly affect reproductive function and egg quality.

Gut health & stress

The relationship between gut function, cortisol, and hormone balance is well-established and often overlooked in conventional fertility assessments.

Is this right for me?

Signs that a fertility assessment may help.

You don't need to have a diagnosis to benefit from a fertility-focused assessment.
These are some of the most common situations our patients come to us with.

  • Trying without success

Trying to conceive for 6 to 12 months without a clear reason why it hasn't happened.

  • Irregular cycles

Cycles that are very long, unpredictable, or difficult to track consistently.

  • Painful periods

Significant menstrual pain or a suspected diagnosis of endometriosis.

  • Recurrent pregnancy loss

Experiencing more than one pregnancy that hasn't continued.

  • Preparing for IVF or IUI

Looking to optimize your health and nutrient status before a stimulated cycle.

  • Subtle symptoms

Fatigue, acne, hair changes, heavy periods, or PMS that feel connected, even if you're not sure how.

What to expect

How we assess and support fertility at Flow.

Your first appointment is a 75-minute intake designed to explore your health history in full: not just your reproductive health, but the patterns and connections that may be contributing to where you are now.

01

In-depth intake

A 75-minute appointment to understand your full health picture, including cycles, symptoms, lifestyle, and health history. We're looking for patterns, not just isolated data points.

02

Targeted lab assessment

Based on your intake, we may review or recommend hormone panels (FSH, LH, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin), AMH for ovarian reserve, thyroid function, vitamin D, iron studies, androgen markers, and metabolic or inflammatory markers where relevant.

03

Personalized treatment plan

Your plan is built around your unique history, goals, and results. It may include targeted supplementation, nutrition and blood sugar support, cycle tracking, IV or micronutrient therapy, intralipid IV, inflammation support, and preconception optimization.

04

Ongoing collaborative care

Whether you're trying naturally or working alongside a fertility clinic, we continue supporting you through follow-ups, protocol adjustments, and coordination with your care team.

FAQs

A few things patients often ask.

  • Yes. Many patients use naturopathic care alongside IVF or IUI to help optimize nutrient status, hormones, egg quality, and overall reproductive health throughout treatment. We aim to work collaboratively with your fertility clinic, not separately from it.

  • Ideally, around three months before you plan to start trying. Egg maturation and hormonal patterns are influenced over time, which means earlier support tends to have more impact, though it's never too late to begin.

  • Yes. We commonly support patients with irregular cycles, ovulation concerns, insulin resistance, and androgen-related symptoms associated with PMOS (previously called PCOS). These patterns often respond well to a root-cause approach.
